About the Project
This a reimagined use of the existing site of the Manhattan Repair Company Headquarters and the block of street from the intersection of Pike and Madison Street and Pike and Henry Street in Manhattan New York.
The project focuses on creating a safe, interactive, and enjoyable destination for all walks of life but also emphasizes the connection to its context and how to bring people in. The Pike Street Park strives to be a location for showcasing the arts whether it’s through sculptures, live music, street art or other performances the park provides the stage.
About the Design
The initial design program is programed to give the community a space for specific activities. It includes a mixed use building, a playground, a lawn that converts to an ice rink, vendors, and a band shelter. Another Important aspect of the project was the plantings. I wanted to address the lack of vegetation in the current site and increases it.
