Autumn Ridge Park

Site Planning and Design Studio: Fall 2020

About the Project

Autumn Park is a redesign of the existing Dike East Park in Fargo, North Dakota on the Red River. The site needed to have an amphitheater, two, an active and two passive uses as well as a main building with a required number of regular parking and handicap parking which would all meet ADA standards.

About the Design

The design was really meant to be a spot that would be a picturesque destination in the fall. This was supported by the choice of vegetation. With room for a Farmers Market and live music outdoors it would be a scenic place in the fall to spend the day. If there happened to be bad weather the community center would be more than ideal place to host those larger events indoors. Outside there is also a playground for the kids to be entertained while parents are off meeting or shopping and conveniently located right next to it is a restroom and visitor information building.

Vegetative Retention Planter

The Thought behind this part of the design was to grade the hill that would be behind this area to allow water to drain into the planters and the planters would have an open mesh that would allow water to soak into the soil and water the trees planted in them.
